Use Case - Reconnaissance of major damage and disaster situations
DLR / GermanyThe setting
On 9 August 2018, an information event with practical demonstrations took place on the Theresienwiese in Munich as part of DLR‘s Live Lage research project.
The aim of the project is to clarify unclear or spatially extensive deployment sites with the help of UAVs and to provide the emergency forces with a detailed situation picture in a timely manner so that they can guide the emergency forces precisely. For this purpose, the German Aerospace Center is developing an optical reconnaissance system mounted on the UAV Tron from Quantum-Systems.
For the demonstration the Tron flew over the Theresienwiese in 170 m height for 10 min, in order to record data for the evaluation. About one week before the start of the Oktoberfest, another flight will take place to offer the rescue and security forces during the Oktoberfest a high-precision 3D map as a basis for planning missions.
