Quantum-Systems relies on Liebherr’s experience for the manufacturing of electronics, the autopilot and motor controller

 

In future, Liebherr’s Components product segment will manufacture the Quantum-Skynode autopilot and the motor controller for the Vector and Scorpion unmanned aerial systems. Quantum-Systems drones are used worldwide for mapping, surveying and reconnaissance applications.

 

Gilching (Germany), and Nussbaumen (Switzerland), 28 June 2022 – The Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) order by Quantum-Systems from Liebherr includes the procurement of components, the production of electronics and, in the case of the autopilot, also the assembly of the components. In addition, comprehensive testing services accompany the manufacturing processes and ensure high product quality.

In Liebherr we have found an ideal electronics partner for our drones. Liebherr’s decades of experience in the production of high-quality aerospace electronics flows directly into our products. This is an essential element for the performance of our drones, especially for operations in adverse environmental conditions with extreme temperatures.

 Further expansion of cooperation

A tour of the Liebherr-Elektronik GmbH plant in Lindau at the beginning of June 2022 heralded the start of a further expansion of the cooperation beyond manufacturing services. In future, the focus will be on development and qualification in the field of electronics in particular. With its in-house test centre in Lindau, Liebherr can also carry out the qualification and verification of electronic components on-site.

Flexibility and wide range of applications for the drones

The drones from Quantum-Systems can be equipped with different sensors and cameras. The possibility to take off and land vertically provides additional flexibility in use. The autopilot manufactured by Liebherr also enables fully autonomous drone operations. Fields of application are, for example, the health analysis of plants from the air, the progress monitoring in open-cast mines or the provision of live situational awareness from disaster areas.

Quantum-Systems and Propeller Aero Partner to Provide PPK Support for Trinity F90+ Drone in a Win for Large Site Surveying

 

Propeller will combine their advanced drone surveying analysis technology with Quantum-Systems eVTOL unmanned aircraft to streamline data collection on large worksites

 

MUNICH, Germany, and DENVER, CO, USA — June 14, 2022 — Quantum-Systems, an innovative developer, and producer of advanced eVTOL UAVs and Propeller Aero, the drone data visualization and analytics platform, today announced their joint effort to include compatibility of Propeller’s site surveying and 3D mapping software with Quantum-Systems’ Trinity F90+ drone.

Propeller’s Post-Processed Kinematic solution (PPK) enables seamless surveying and 3D mapping of worksites across the construction, mining and earthworks industries. Coupled with the Quantum-Systems Trinity F90+ drone, a dedicated large scale mapping drone, contractors will be able to improve survey accuracy, condense their traditionally weeks-long data collection process into a few hours, and quickly share digital models among their broader worksite teams.

Addressing customer needs, modernizing workflows

Designed and manufactured in Germany, the Trinity F90+ drone builds on the Quantum-Systems previous F9 model and makes electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft accessible to customers at an affordable price point without compromising technical quality or usability. Additionally, the Trinity F90+ drone can fly for up to 90 minutes – well beyond the industry standard of 60 minutes – allowing earthworks professionals to survey larger worksites more efficiently, and it comes with the broadest choice of integrated sensors in the industry.

On course for growth: Bayern Kapital with the Bavarian Growth Fund 2 invests in Quantum-Systems

Quantum-Systems, innovative developer, designer, and producer of advanced eVTOL UAVs, together with Bayern Kapital and its Bavarian Growth Fund 2, renowned German private investors, and existing investors, as well as the European Investment Bank EIB has completed its Series A funding rounds with a total of 32 million USD equity and venture debt.

Quantum-Systems, founded in 2015, develops drones with a fixed-wing flight mode that enables long travel times, long ranges, and quiet flight. The drones are capable of vertical take-off and landing. The founders successfully registered a patent for a vertically launchable unmanned transition aircraft in 2012. After a short transition phase, the motors swing into a flight position and the drone flies like an airplane using aerodynamic and electrical efficiency. And it does so for up to 90 minutes – comparable models from other manufacturers do not achieve this flight time.

Increasing demand and growing areas of application

The drones serve a variety of use cases both in the defence and security sector, as well as for the geospatial industry. They can be used in search and rescue operations after natural disasters like floods. Further areas of applications are smart farming, volume calculation in open-pit mining, surveying work for large construction sites, real-time situational awareness, tactical mapping, and automated railway inspection.

We are seeing a constantly growing interest in our unique UAV systems from governments as well as leading enterprises around the globe. They use our drones for applications like irrigation optimization in agriculture, progress monitoring in open pit mining, surveying work for large construction sites, real-time situational awareness and in Search and Rescue (SAR) scenarios. The Deutsche Bahn inspects their railway network with our automatically operated drones for instance after severe weather events. The Series A round will allow us to further scale our production and establish ourselves as the international standard in eVTOL UAVs by increasing investment in our development capabilities and sales team. Richard began in the field as an Instrument Operator, where he excelled and quickly moved into the office as a Survey Technician. He has vast experience with terrestrial laser scanning and managing point cloud information, inside and outside of the office. Over the last year, Richard took on the role of UAV Operations Manager, supervising Control Point Associates, Inc.’s UAV pilots and overseeing firm-wide drone flight schedules, capturing photography, video, 3D Point Clouds, and aerial mapping. Richard manages the day-to-day operations and projects within the UAV Division. He is a certified UAV pilot.
